Content for Your Website!
You agree that articles are a great way to add content to your website. So, you ask, how do I go about implementing a plan so that I am adding content on a regular basis? You have to break through the mental block that you do not have time to write articles for your website. As an owner, you are the most knowledgeable in all aspects of your industry & therefore the most likely candidate for writing content. You may also have key personnel that have been with you through the years that are experts in their areas. You could have these key persons pen some articles as well, discussing things that come up in their day to day jobs.
Here are some quick tips to get you going:
1. Start by creating a Word Document of 5-6 ideas for articles. You can even email your co-workers asking for ideas for topics to get you started.
2. Schedule a half hour time slot on your weekly schedule for writing. Make it an appointment & don't allow yourself to break it.
3. Pull up your list of articles and just start typing about one of the topics that piques your interest. Just start out with everything that comes to mind. It doesn't have to all come together at first. Computers make it easy to go back and rearrange, change & edit.
4. Once you have all your thoughts on paper, the hardest part is over, now you simply go through & rearrange the thoughts into a flowing article, checking for proper grammar & spelling.
There you go! That wasn't so hard after all, in about a half hour a week you can start adding four articles a month to your website!
Half the battle is just giving yourself some quiet time & getting started-we tend to make a small task into a larger mountain when we are unfamiliar with the task or it is something we do not enjoy doing.
