Focusing Your Marketing Plan for Higher Returns
The point of this article is to encourage you to make your marketing task manageable so you can be assured of a successful result. Trying to plan and tweak your course of action is much easier when you know exactly where your target is. Picture yourself in a room with 10,000 targets. How hard would it be to find the one you need to aim at? The first thing to do will be to eliminate all of the targets except the one you need to hit.
When marketing your web store, keep in mind that there are many approaches you can take. You can market your business name nationally. You can market your custom products to a specific industry or group of people such as Swimming or Boating. You can also choose to market a particular product to each of these groups or abroad to any number of industries.
For this article we are going to look closer at marketing a particular product to a select industry. By narrowing your focus point it will make it easier to control. When I sit down to take a minute to consider my marketing direction I am immediately flooded with ideas and directions I would like to head. I have found it is much more productive to narrow my focus.
For this example let's look at the sporting industry. This is still a very broad view. You have hunting, fishing etc. and then you have basketball, football, baseball, etc. I could go on but you get the point. How could I market to all of these effectively? The best thing I can do is narrow it down some more.
Let's take a look at Soccer. This is a popular sport that involves kids and parents. Likely you have heard of the term "Soccer Mom", and probably seen decals on a vehicle that say this. There is a market here worth consideration. Now for a product. Vinyl is very profitable so I would start with products that can be made from vinyl.
So, as you can see, we have chosen an industry from the thousands swarming around. We then narrowed that industry down to an individual group. Next we chose a product to sell to this group. Now we are prepared to put together a plan with pin point accuracy. Once we have this in effect we can take the knowledge we have gained and put it towards our next campaign.
